Two cops attached to the Constant Spring Police Station have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a tiler was killed Saturday morning in Red Hills, St Andrew.

The dead man has been identified as 49-year-old Phillip Wallace of a Green Glide close address in the parish.

Reports are that about 10:41 a.m. Saturday, Wallace was standing in the community when a white Toyota Axio motor car drove up.

Three men reportedly alighted from the vehicle and opened fire, hitting the now-deceased.

A woman, who was said to be Wallace’s spouse, was also fired at but managed to escape without injury.

The cops at the centre of the saga reportedly requested money from Wallace following an operation a few days earlier.

The Gleaner has been reliably informed that more than $100,000 was requested not to prosecute Wallace.

A sum was allegedly received by the alleged rogue cops, who demanded more.

A report was made to the Constant Spring police.

The cops are in custody at the Grants Pen Police Station, The Gleaner understands.

A third cop has not been located. It is theorised that he might have departed the island.

The Major Investigation Division and the Independent Commission of Investigation are probing the murder.
