One of Western Jamaica’s top football players-turned-coach, Anthony ‘Follies’ Williams is dead.
Follies, as he was affectionately called, a product and resident of the eastern Hanover town of Hopewell, passed peacefully on Wednesday at his home, about 5:00 p.m., following a brief illness.
Born on September 26, 1962, Follies attended the Bethel Primary School and from there went to Rusea’s High School in Lucea, Hanover, where he made his name as one of the standout daCosta Cup players. He began playing the daCosta Cup in 1978 and served as captain in 1980, his final year.
After graduating from high school, he played for several football clubs in Montego Bay, St James, after which he ventured into the field of coaching.
